- Product Code:
- 102797
Description
Number 1 from the original limited edition of 1000.
On the 6th of February 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
This first issue Limited Edition Teacup and Saucer formed part of the official chinaware collection commissioned by Royal Collection Trust to commemorate the unprecedented anniversary.
The design is inspired by the purple Robe of Estate worn by The Queen at her Coronation. The border decoration is based on the gold embroidery on the robe, which incorporates olive branches and wheat ears, symbolising peace and prosperity. To make the occasion platinum elements have been added to this magnificent piece which highlights the mane of the unicorn and the wheat ears.
At the centre of this exquisite, keepsake teacup and saucer is the Royal Coat of Arms, which has been specially painted for the occasion and includes the national emblems of the United Kingdom. The underside of the saucer features a beautiful gold and platinum laurel and wheat design.
This English fine bone china teacup and saucer is decorated by hand in Staffordshire, England. Using traditional techniques unchanged for generations, each piece is finished in 22 carat gold, including the foot, handle and lip of the teacup and the well and rim of the saucer before being fired for a final time.
