On the 6th of February 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

This first issue Platinum Jubilee Bear formed part of the official collection commissioned by Royal Collection Trust to commemorate the unprecedented anniversary.

This wonderful, collectable bear is wearing an exquisite sash which is inspired by the purple Robe of Estate worn by The Queen at her coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953. The intricate decoration is based on the beautiful gold embroidery found on The Queen's robe, which incorporates olive branches and wheat ears, symbolizing peace and prosperity.

Merrythought has been hand-making teddy bears in their factory in Shropshire, England since 1930. The fourth generation family business is now the last remaining British manufacturer of teddy bears.

This bear is expertly handcrafted from the finest natural materials, and filled with recycled fibre. Made from alpaca fleece with 100% cotton backing, the bear’s paws are made from velvet and he features a nose and smile that has been carefully hand-embroidered with cotton thread. The sash is fashioned from a luxurious velvet.
