The Gadroon Collection

Introducing the magnificent Gadroon collection, featuring one of the most elaborate and spectacular chinaware pieces belonging to the official royal gift shop.

Inspired by the spectacular Royal Worcester service used every year at the Garter Day luncheon in the Waterloo Chamber at Windsor Castle. The chinaware pieces display a design consisting of the insignia of the British orders of chivalry. This detail surrounds the Royal Coat of Arms which is beautifully centred at each Gadroon piece and is decadently finished with 22 carat gold. This Gadroon limted edition collection is inspired by the original service commissioned by William IV in 1830.

The term 'gadrooning' is used for a series of curved, convex or concave flutings, widely used as a decorative edging on articles of silverware and porcelain during the Italian Renaissance. This method is expertly used on the exquisite pieces you can find in this collection.

The Honi Soit Collection

Discover the spectacular Honi Soit collection which includes unique and exclusive china pieces that are steeped in British history.

The pieces in this collection are inspired by a service crafted in c1820 for the Duke of Clarence who later became William IV. In 1893, the Royal Warrant holders presented part of the service as a wedding gift to The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George V and Queen Mary, the grandparents of Queen Elizabeth II.

The ducal coronet and lion which is placed at the centre of every piece is encircled by the motto of the Order of the Garter 'Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense' ('Evil Be Unto Him Who Evil Thinks') which has been descended onto the present British royal family. The Honi Soit pieces also depict the national flowers, a thistle, a Tudor rose and a shamrock which create a wonderful British design.

The Rockingham Collection

Using soft and delicate colours, the Rockingham collection  includes striking chinaware pieces, which are all part of a collectable limited edition.

The design is based directly on the famous Rockingham Dessert Service, which is still used today for State Banquets at Buckingham Palace. Commissioned in 1830 by William IV from the Rockingham works in Yorkshire, the service was first used at Queen Victoria's coronation banquet in 1838. It was possibly the most ambitious service ever produced by an English factory, taking seven years to complete.

The decoration shows the coat of arms of William IV, surrounded by the national flowers and a border of oak leaves and acorns. Each piece is magnificently finished using 22 carat gold which is gilded by hand in England by skilled artisans.
