This exquisite plate is a Special Edition piece belonging to our Honi Soit collection. The inspiration of the design derives from a service made in c1820 for the Duke of Clarence (later William IV). Part of the service was presented as a wedding gift to The Duke and Duchess of York (later George V and Queen Mary) by the Royal Warrant holders in 1893. The ducal coronet and lion sit atop national flowers and are encircled by the motto of the Order of the Garter 'Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense' ('Evil Be Unto Him Who Evil Thinks'). The motto and other features of the ornate design are delicately finished with 22 carat gold.
Using traditional methods, this magnificent piece is made by hand in Stoke-on-Trent, England using fine bone English china which is highly regarded around the world for its fineness and delicate nature.
Not suitable for use in a dishwasher or microwave.
Diameter 26cm.
