A wonderful piece belonging to the Honi Soit collection, this Special Edition tankard is a more elaborate and slightly larger than our standard tankards. The design is inspired by a service made in c1820 for the Duke of Clarence (later William IV). Part of the service was presented as a wedding gift to The Duke and Duchess of York (later George V and Queen Mary) by the Royal Warrant holders in 1893. The ducal coronet and lion sit atop national flowers and are encircled by the motto of the Order of the Garter 'Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense' ('Evil Be Unto Him Who Evil Thinks'). With an intricate handle and a detailed design, the tankard is beautifully finished with 22 carat gold.
The fine bone English china tankard is made by hand in Stoke-on-Trent, an English city, known for its traditional potteries.
Not suitable for use in a dishwasher or microwave.
