Enchanting Christmas Tablescapes: Ideas & Inspirations for a Festive Holiday

The Christmas dinner table is where many of us would have been introduced to tablescaping, with or without knowing the term. The best bone china would be unpacked and placed carefully on a pristine tablecloth. Napkins were ironed and sometimes folded into magical creations, and the silverware would be out on display. This was the day to show everything off! This Christmas we are showcasing our beautiful bone china ranges in three very different tablescapes.

Winter Afternoon Tea

This afternoon tea features the magnificent Victoria and Albert china. This collection, finished with 22 carat gold, was inspired by a Worcester plate made in 1840. At the centre of each tier is the cypher of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert which is surmounted by the Royal Crown. Here we chose a simple white tablecloth to complement the ornately decorated china. Vintage silver candlesticks and beautiful white blooms create a luxurious tea for two setting on a cold winter's afternoon.

Chelsea Porcelain

With this tablescape we decided to enhance the botanical elements of the Chelsea china range with a very decadent setting. To achieve this we started with a dark green velvet tablecloth and an abundance of natural foliage and winter berries. Embroidered napkins and green glassware elevate your table from everyday to extraordinary. The Chelsea Porcelain range in this table setting was inspired by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s botanical porcelain collection from circa 1750.

Livery

We wanted this tablescape to be our boldest to exaggerate the rich scarlet hues and intricate fine gold details of our newest range, Livery, launched in July 2024. This collection draws its inspiration from the uniforms and regalia historically worn by members of the Royal Family and the Guards of the Household Regiments during ceremonial duties at prestigious royal events. A striped tablecloth, velvet napkins and traditional candied fruit evoke the grandeur of Christmases past.
