  • Description

The Queen's New Zealand Silver-Fern Brooch, in the form of one of the most important and widely recognised national emblems of New Zealand, was given to The Queen on behalf of the women of Auckland, at Government House on Christmas Day 1953. This was at the beginning of The Queen's historic visit to New Zealand - the first by a reigning monarch - which lasted from 23 December 1953 to 30 January 1954. The gift, which delighted The Queen, was presented by Lady Allum, wife of Sir John Allum (1889-1972), Mayor of Auckland from 1941 to 1953.

Set with sparkling crystals on white gold plated metal.
