This DVD features rare footage from original newsreels of two major events in the early life of Queen Elizabeth II.
Two years after World War II Great Britain finally had cause to rejoice at the dawn of a new era. On 20th November 1947 Princess Elizabeth married Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten at Westminster Abbey. This story starts with the years leading up to the wedding and covers the detailed preparations that took place, including some rare footage on the making of the wedding dress. The exciting events of the day itself are beautifully narrated by the quintessentially English Anna Neagle.
The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2nd June 1953 was one of the first major televised events in history. This original documentary covers the beautiful procession to and from Westminster Abbey, as well as the splendid display of ancient traditions and symbols, which took place during the Coronation ceremony.
